On Call Worker - Vacancy

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder will carry out the following responsibilities and provided with an LWA mobile phone and an on call handbook:

Shift Rate: £46.51 per shift, approximately 5 shifts per month/£93.02 per 12 hours shift on Bank Holidays

On Call Service

  • Pay a routine visit to refuge during your shift

  • Respond to calls from service users at refuge, initially with a phone call and if necessary with a visit

  • Provide support and care to service users and their children

  • Liaise with On Call Manager regarding incidents of concern and any safeguarding concerns

  • Deal with accidents or illnesses involving service users or their children, including de escalating any incidents withine the refuge

  • Alongside the On Call Manager, deal with emergency maintenance problems

  • Open the post box at the refuge and give out post on Saturday mornings

  • Divert office phone to mobile when coming on shift at weekends

  • Ensure completion of the on-call log book when attending refuge

  • Complete monitoring forms for each visit and phone call

  • Complete a call to handover before your shift and once the shift is completed, either to refuge staff or other on call staff

2..  Working as a Team Member

  • Complete a short report form at the end of each duty detailing all calls and how they were dealt with.

  • Ensure that all relevant issues are addressed and information is shared with relevant staff and/or staff member next on call.

  • Be familiar with the information contained within your on-call handbook

  • Attend on-call evening meetings every eight weeks

  • Be aware of Lighthouse Women’s Aid procedures and comply with them

  • Complete relevant training (Lighthouse Women’s Aid will endeavour toensure that you can attend training)

3.   Variations

Such variations may be required from time to time without changing the general character of the duties shown or the level of responsibility entailed.

4. Skills/ Knowledge

  • An understanding of Domestic Abuse and the impact that it can have

  • Awareness of trauma informed practice and how trauma can affect women and children

  • Applicants must live within a 5 mile radius of central Ipswich, have use of a vehicle, full driving licence and business insurance

  • Good listening skills

  • Empathetic

  • Excellent team working skills, as well as ability to work off your own initiative. This includes raising issues with the On Call Manager as they arise

  • Organised

  • Ability to diffuse difficult situations and remain calm
